Straight answers about how AVECampus works, what it costs and what is still on the way.
What is a student information system?
A student information system, or SIS, is where a school keeps its official records: who the students are, which courses and sections exist, who is enrolled, who attended, and what each student owes. AVECampus keeps all of that in one connected system so nothing lives in scattered spreadsheets.
Who is AVECampus for?
Small schools and training centers where one to a few people run everything: vocational and career schools, professional training centers, language schools and tutoring centers.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 1 institution, 1 user and up to 30 students, with student records, courses, terms, sections, enrollments, attendance and manual payments.
What does the Starter plan add?
Starter allows 3 institutions, 3 users, 500 students and 100 courses. It also adds online payments through your own Stripe account (beta), team roles and invitations, and requires two-step verification for every user.
What is included in the Enterprise plan?
Enterprise includes unlimited institutions, users, students and courses, plus Open API access, real-time webhooks, tailored workflow automation, integrations, data migration and implementation support.
What happens if I go over a plan limit?
Nothing is deleted. You simply cannot add more students, courses or users until you upgrade or archive records you no longer need. Archived students do not count toward the student limit.
Can I accept online payments?
Yes, in beta. You connect your own Stripe account, send a payment link, and each payment is logged automatically when it is paid. The money goes directly to your Stripe account. AVECampus never holds your funds and never stores your Stripe keys. You can always record payments by hand instead.
How is student data protected?
Each school's records are kept separate by the database itself, so one school cannot see another's. Two-step verification is required on paid plans, files are private, and every change to records is logged with who made it. AVECampus is built with FERPA in mind, but it does not replace your own compliance responsibilities.
Do you store Social Security numbers?
Only the last 4 digits, and only when you choose to add them. They are kept in a restricted area that instructors cannot read, and the digits are left out of the change history. The full number is never stored.
Can I manage more than one school?
Yes. The Free plan supports 1 institution, Starter supports up to 3, and Enterprise supports unlimited institutions. Each institution keeps its own students, courses, team and billing.
Can instructors see payments?
No. Instructors can see student records and take attendance, but they cannot see payments, balances or restricted ID details.
How do courses, terms and sections fit together?
A course is the reusable program, such as Medical Assistant. A section is one dated run of a course. A term is an academic period, such as Fall 2026, that sections can belong to. A section that belongs to a term must fall inside the term's dates. Programs that start on a rolling basis can leave the term empty.
Can I import or export my data?
Yes. Import students from CSV with column matching and row-by-row validation, and export payments and balances for your accountant.
Is there a student portal or single sign-on?
The student and parent portal is available today. Single sign-on is on the roadmap.
